Easter Activity Ideas

Easter is upon us again, a holiday reminiscent of birds, bunnies and all things spring. Many of us remember the fun and joy of the annual Easter egg hunt when we were kids.

Traditional Easter egg hunts are always fun; try these amusing twists for some fresh excitement with your Easter celebration!

  • For older kids or adults , enclose money, stickers, movie or event tickets in plastic eggs.
  • Get creative and write notes in each like, “free day from chores” or “week of double allowance.”
  • Create a scavenger hunt by hiding clues in your plastic eggs.
  • Hand your kiddos flashlights and have them hunt for eggs at dusk.
  • Assign each child a certain color of egg to hunt. Create a friendly competition by pitting the reds and blues against the greens and yellows.
  • Let the kids hide eggs for the adults
  • Denver may get some rain this weekend. Create your Easter egg hunt inside your home using one room or the entire house.

Not in the mood for Easter egg hunt? Here are a few ideas to kick start your Easter fun:

Make or buy an Easter piñata – bunny or chick shapes are fun.

  • Plant a new plant in the ground or in a container for Easter (lilies, gardenias, hyacinth, tulips, daffodils and hibiscus are all great choices).
  • Bake a cake with your kids. Have them decorate it with things that remind them of Easter.
  • Spoon and egg races – try to get across the finish line first without dropping your egg.
  • Make an Easter basket for a family in need or elderly couple in your neighborhood.
  • Make homemade Easter treats for your family and friends.
  • Create a piece of art using jelly beans. Get creative to spruce up your fine piece of art using glue, fresh picked grass or flower petals.
  • Easter basket picnic – pack a picnic in a traditional Easter basket and head to the park (or your yard) with your family.
  • Create a Bingo card using Easter symbols and enjoy a fun game.

Make sure you get outside and enjoy the freshness of spring this year! Start a new tradition for your family this Easter holiday. Creating your own family traditions can create wonderful memories for years to come.
